There are seven main dialect groups in China: northern dialects (Guanhua) ; Gan; Hakka (Kejia) ; Min; Wu; Xiang; Yue (Cantonese).
However, due to the fact that the majority of the country’s population is made up of peasants, dialects continue to be active. A special mentality has played a role here: the cult of ancestors and the cult of history has always flourished in China. Each dialect is a part of centuries-old culture, and to abandon it would be tantamount to death.
Even the Chinese themselves learn Chinese so that they don’t have an accent. From a young age, children hire a speech therapist with whom they practice pronunciation together. The pronunciation of words is very important in Chinese.
