As usual, let’s start with the pros. First, China is a progressive country. Often, all technologies and inventions come from China. It is estimated that China may overtake the United States as early as 2028. And similarly, Chinese may become one of the world’s international languages.
Secondly, knowledge of the Chinese language provides an opportunity to do business. Every year, more and more Chinese enterprises are opening in the world, and of course, they need specialists with knowledge of the Chinese language, which is quite small. We can add to this point that most Chinese people do not know English. And knowing not only Chinese but also English will give you a lot of respect from, for example, an employer in China.
Thirdly, you can find many friends among the representatives of this nation. I even have one Chinese friend who is a very nice and kind person. Or you can find love.
Probably the main advantage is that you can study in China for free. Every year, the Chinese government provides many grants for studying at any university in China in order to attract foreign students to the country. All expenses, including accommodation, tuition, and meals, are covered by the Chinese government.
And now let’s talk about the cons, of course, there are fewer of them than the pros, but they are very significant and can spoil your idea of this country.
First of all. Each region of China has its own dialect. For example, I’m learning Mandarin, as it’s called, which is the language of the central part of the country. Therefore, before studying, you need to figure out which dialect is better to learn for work, for example.
Second. The remote parts of China, one might say regions, do not always look as attractive as the largest cities.
Third. Chinese is a rather complicated language. You need to write the characters correctly, and of course pronounce them correctly, because if you make a mistake or say it with the wrong accent, you get a completely different word than you meant to say. That’s why you have to sit and memorize it for a long time, and practice it together in order to read and write correctly.
I think I made the right choice. It’s quite interesting and cool to learn, to study, and to dream that in the future it will become a part of you, and you can earn good money from it.
