Program Language Leader and Instructor

Dr. TIM XIE is a graduate of the Shanghai International Studies University. He speaks Chinese, English and Russian. He came to the United States in 1985 and enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a master's in linguistics and a Ph.D. in foreign language education.

Program Instructor

Prof. CHING-I TSAO is currently an instructor for the Chinese language at California State University, Long Beach. She has been teaching Mandarin at the Mandarin Training Center of National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, Taiwan since 1989. She also taught Mandarin at Western Illinois University and University of Massachusetts for several years, as well as several private Chinese language training institutes.

GA and Activity Coordinator

Prof. JEFF WINTERS has been teaching Mandarin Chinese for over ten years. He is currently serving as the Director of the College of Liberal Arts Language Labs at California State University Long Beach. Professor Winters works extensively on developing multi-media and web-based language learning programs. He has served as Director of Chinese Computing at the Chinese International School in Hong Kong and as a language specialist in the New Media Center at California State University Long Beach.
